Do you like my banner picture, the new leaves being planted? I got the idea from my old website, NewLeafLearning.org (it may still be available if you're interested). "New leaf, new learning, new life" was my tagline. I had offered professional development, speaking, writing, just whatever might be needed to help people accept change and move on to become a positive contributor to their future.
NC State University - Master's Program: New Literacies and Global Learning
For the past three years, I have been in graduate school at NC State, working on an M.Ed. in New Literacies and Global Learning, the 21st century version of a Master's for teachers. It focuses on digital technologies for the classrooms, research-based teaching and learning, global collaboration, and teacher leadership. At times it has been very hard, but it's also been a lot of fun!
On a beautiful Saturday, May 14, 2011, I walked the stage with my fellow NLGL graduates. This had been my third attempt at graduate school at State, but this time I made it all the way. It was back in 1976 that I orignially graduated from State with a B.A. in History, and a concentration in Ancient Greece and Rome.
Now, I want to earn my National Board Professional Teacher status. Following that, it's always been my dream to earn a Ph.D. in History or Social Studies, to teach until I'm at least 70, and maybe even write a book. We shall see...
